CarolUpper-class wife Carol (Cate Blanchett) is trapped in a failed marriage in 1950s New York. In a department store in Manhattan, she meets the young clerk Therese (Rooney Mara), who dreams of a different and more meaningful life. A cautious spark is ignited between them, and the closer their relationship becomes, the clearer it becomes that the price for following their hearts is inhumanly high.
